Auslogics Disk Defrag & Optimize

During the update process the system almost completely reinstalls itself, which may lead to fragmentation increasing and, as a result, the program requires more time to defragment the files.

You can try installing our Disk Defrag Ultimate with the Offline Defragmentation feature available that offers faster defragmentation (please see the screenshot showing this option):

We would also like to note that our algorithms are being constantly developed, so the speed of the process may change.

Thank you for your explanation. Unfortunately, you missed a key point.

Please note that after all software updates, I ran Disk Defrag which defragged all the files that were not in use by any running program. When it finished, I ran Disk Defrag & Optimize which is the slow running program option. It always starts with a normal Defrag (in this case always with less than 24 fragmented small files) which always completes that phase in under 3 minutes. Then Defrag & Optimize runs the optimize phase. MY issue is that the optimize phase which now runs about 5 hours 23 minutes instead of a maximum of 42 minutes.

Please note that since I always start with Disk Defrag, your argument about the update process is resolved in this run. Thus your argument is null and void. The problem is with the optimize phase of Defrag & Optimize. Either you changed your algorithm, Microsoft changed an interface you use, or unknown background jobs were interfering with your optimize.

Please investigate and review your answer. I should not have to purchase additional software just to speed up the process.

P.S. I always do my maintenance in single thread mode so I do not compete with myself.

I am really sorry you experienced problems with the software. We will appreciate your assistance in helping us figure out what went wrong and how we could fix it. Could you please send us the debug log file and the system information report?

To get these files please follow the steps below:

1. Exit BoostSpeed with "File" => "Close" menu command. Make sure that BoostSpeed is not running. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del , go to process monitor and stop BoostSpeed if it is running.

2. Download and unpack the archive by the link:

and run the file Auslogics_BoostSpeed_12.reg, agree to add the data to the registry when prompted. Then run BoostSpeed, answer "NO" when the program asks you to disable debug mode (answer "NO" in each window with this question, when it appears) and do all usual actions in it. Then wait until BoostSpeed crashes/finishes its work, reboot your PC and check the folder C:\ProgramData\Auslogics\BoostSpeed\12.x\Logs\ for the files with .log extension. Archive this folder, please.

3. To get your system information report, press Start => Run, type in MSINFO32 and press the Enter button. Save the report using the File =>Save menu option.

Once you’ve obtained these two files, please pack them both into an archive and send it to us at the email address support@auslogics.com.

After I received your answer, I tried Defrag & Optimize one more time. Unfortunately, I ran your software update first. After that, a lot of Boostspeed 12 required the PRO version, so I was not allowed to run Defrag & Optimize without buying the Disk Defrag PRO version. After several frustrating weeks, I finally looked at my License. The screen displayed a blank license number. A 2nd license screen also showed up with my correct license number. I deleted the blank screen screen and then exited the second license screen. After that, I have been able to run the Defrag & Optimize option successfully. Today I ran it again with the first time it ran in under 4 hours. It ran in only 55 minutes!

Perhaps this problem also had a portion related to your software update through your uninstall followed by your install. I suspect that this process added the blank license key (free version?), thus superceeding the paid license key. Please review your software update procedure retains the old license key without adding a blank license key.

Since the runtime problem is now back to normal, that part of this request may be considered complete, but the license key issue for a software update is not considered complete.

Here we continue this issue. Today I ran Defrag (to reduce the # of fragmented files) followed by Defrag & Optimize. Defrag & Optimize ran for over 3 hours when I stopped it with only 16% of the process completed (over 20,000 files optimized even though it was optimized 2 days earlier). I use only 174GB out of 912GB. Your monitor claimed that your software was very heavy CPU time (52%) while all other jobs were low or very low CPU time. Disk usage by all jobs combined was only 21%. I tried running your ...RAR process, but Norton Lifelock claimed that it is a "known dangerous file". How do we proceed from here?

Last week Microsoft sent me a bad update which caused my Outlook.com date file to have over 30,000 fragments. Your Defrag process handled it properly in less than an hour!

We can assure you that Auslogics software is perfectly safe, nor does it contain any malware. The message you got is a false positive detection, which sometimes happens when an antivirus program requires an update.

Please try updating your current Norton version, this should resolve the issue.
