Keep document lists

Make sure the folder containing your documents is selected for indexing. If it's not, follow these steps:

• In the Indexing Options window, click the "Modify" button.

• In the "Indexed Locations" window, select the folder you want to index, and click "OK".

• In the Indexing Options window, click the "Advanced" button.

• In the "Advanced Options" window, click the "Rebuild" button. Click "OK" to close the "Advanced Options" window, and then click "Close" to close the Indexing Options window.

Note: If the "Modify" button is greyed out in the Indexing Options window, it may be because the indexing service is currently disabled. To enable the indexing service, follow these steps:

• Press WIN + R, type services.msc

• In the Services window, scroll down and find the "Windows Search" service.

• Right-click on the "Windows Search" service and select "Properties".

• Set the "Startup type" to "Automatic”.

• Click the "Start" button to start the service. Then click "OK".

This must enable the indexing service and allow you to modify the indexed locations.

Thank you for this, but this answer evades my question.

1. Yes

2. No hidden files

3. No viruses or malware

4. No documents have gone missing, just the links

5. Indexing options remain unchanged

So here is what we are going to do. I will uninstall your program and take screenshots tomorrow. I think those will show links to all the things I did today. Then I will reinstall your program. I have it scheduled for middle-of-the-night automatic execution. Then I will take screenshots which will show no documents links.

I think that this is a known defect in your program because I saw this mentioned somewhere, but I can't find that now. The program should have a checkbox which states "Eliminate recent document links." I can't find anything like that to uncheck.

Based on the provided information, we see that besides clearing the history of open documents in MS Office applications, you also meant records from the following locations:

• Windows Explorer > Quick access > Recent files

• Windows Search Bar > Recent

Auslogics BoostSpeed has corresponding cleaning categories for these locations. To set these options up as you prefer, use the ‘Scan’ button on the My Dashboard:

1. Go to the My Scanner tab, and click on ‘Customize’ next to the ‘Privacy’ section.

2. Scroll down to the ‘Traces in System Files’ category group and uncheck any categories that you do not wish to clear. For example, you may uncheck “Windows Search” or “Windows Explorer” history (see the screenshot for examples of possible categories):

3. To cancel clearing the history of recent documents, templates, and unsaved MS Office documents, uncheck the “Traces in Applications” category in the Privacy section as shown in the screenshot:

Please note that these steps may vary depending on the version of Auslogics BoostSpeed you are using. It’s good practice to make sure to have a backup of important data before starting any cleaning process on your PC.

YES! This is what I was looking for.

I uninstalled the program and got my document links, then reinstalled it yesterday and then I had none. So THIS is the answer. Thank you.

Now, the screenshot you included differs from mine. I am running the latest BoostSpeed 13.0.0.3. I attach a screenshot of the Privacy pane. As you see, there are no checkboxes. Instead, there is a right-click option to "Add all items to Ignore List."

Will that do it?

Why were the checkboxes eliminated?

Your screenshot is showing the clearing process in the Privacy tab. Once the process is done, you will see the ‘Rescan All’ button (see the screenshot):

By pressing this button you will get back to the page with the scan categories. Make sure that the ‘Privacy’ checkbox is marked. Then, do the following:

1.Click on ‘Customize’ next to the ‘Privacy’ section.

2. Scroll down to the ‘Traces in System Documents’ category group and uncheck any categories that you do not wish to clear. See the screenshot for examples of possible categories:
