Files from the cloud are consuming too much storage

I am currently using a 1TB HDD, which now has only approximately 143GB of free space remaining. I have noticed that my Microsoft 365 cloud drive is connected to my laptop, and downloading files from the cloud is consuming more storage than anticipated. How can I prevent cloud documents from being downloaded onto my laptop using Auslogics?

Hello,

Thank you for posting your question on our forum.

To prevent Microsoft 365 (OneDrive) cloud documents from downloading and consuming storage on your laptop, you can use the "Files On-Demand" feature and choose which folders to sync locally.

Here is how to manage it:

- Open the OneDrive app by clicking the cloud icon in the taskbar.

- Go to Settings > Account > Choose folders.

- Uncheck the folders you do not want to sync locally. This stops them from downloading but keeps them available in the cloud.

- Additionally, you can right-click files or folders in your OneDrive folder on your laptop and select "Free up space." This will remove the local copy while keeping a placeholder, which takes much less space.

- You can also pause syncing in OneDrive settings if you want to temporarily stop downloads
