Device-related issues

My SSD took several days to recover, via an automated Microsoft Windows process.

My disk had a C: drive, for OS and D: drive for my files, photo's etc. While the c: drive was recovered, the d: drive has disappeared. How can I recover the D: drive, please?

I have two WD 3.6Tb external USB3 drives for backups and storage. These are both deffo HDD! I have discovered that they are TRIM enabled ... BUT, you don't trim HD's, do you??? I have had had trouble with them in the past due to increasing slowness and defragmentation. Sometimes Defrag Ultimate just couldn't finish a HDD defrag or gave up and stood still, but didn't crash either! Defrag Ultimate treats them as HDD's, but I am wondering if actually SSD Trimming them and then HDD Defragging them might solve or reduce my problems. But, I don't want to try this if I am going to damage them. So how should I treat them generally and within Defrag Ultimate

This morning was the second time that my laptop was taken over by a “disk repair” function that I think is linked with BoostSpeed. I start up my laptop and something begins churning away telling me that it will take 8 hours to complete. Actually it could not tell time correctly because it took 3 ½ hours before I could use the laptop.
Q: How to prevent this happening again? At least giving me the option to say OK do it now or wait?

My Win 10 (64bit) PC can find my Epson printer on my local network, connected by ethernet cable to my router, and installs the "necessary files". However, afterward in my settings it shows the printer with "Driver is Unavailable" and nothing will print. Both my wife's PC and all of our iPhones/iPads have no issues printing so I know it is connected properly and functional. The only device having an issue is my PC. I have removed the printer and reinstalled it multiple times with the same result. I have also downloaded and installed the newest drivers available from Epson for this printer but somehow my computer does not seem to be able to find or recognize them. A support request has been sent to Epson but so far any suggestions from their automated response system have not be successful.

How do you enable hard disk spindown after it has been turned off using the maintain tool? I've searched but cannot find the option. Thank you.

Sometimes my computer freezes and I have to wait awhile to type again. Is there a solution for this? This happens in Internet browsers and Microsoft Word.

I have about a dozen 2.5" & 3.5" SATA HDs, no bigger than 4TB that I have been using for years without issue. They are used in conjunction with via a WAVLINK eternal docking station, holds 2 drives" to USB. Recently, one HDs, 3TB one, when I tried to use it, I got an error message, "invalid parameter", "drive is not accessible or corrupted" or something like that. So I used the DSK command in Window 11 and it showed up as a "healthy drive" but showed up as "RAW" (needed to be formatted basically of course) instead of NTFS as it should be. I took this situation to be a fluke but just now, with two 4TB drives in at the same time in the docking station, the same thing happened TO THEM BOTH. I had them connect to my laptop for several hours then suddenly got the "drive not accessible" error.  Same issue as before basically and back to RAW. Correct me if I'm wrong but does this very likely indicate that the docking station is creating this problem all of a sudden? It's either that or my laptop is sending something out to the drives that is causing this. Give me your opinion. My bottom question is, I'm assuming the MBR got corrupted or disappeared, of course there could be something else but it's been a very long time since I have messed with HDs on this level. Is there any way without having to send the drives out to have them professionally recovered, something I can do myself at home to re access the drives normally? Thanks in advance, Jim.

I have a corrupted USB drive and now I can't access anything on it. I don't care about the files on it now. I would like to know is there a way to UN-corrupt it in your tools. I would just like to be able to use it. It's a pretty new flash drive - only used a few times. I think I killed it when I pulled it out after it gave me a warning. I wasn't able to get the warning to go away.

I haven't use my laptop in awhile and windows 11 had installed itself. This messed a lot of things up and the laptop wasn't functionng properly anymore when I tried to fix it. I gave up and did a fresh install on it back to windows 10. I downloaded and installed all the updated drivers from the ASUS website and used auslogics driver updater to make sure the rest were up to date. Now I am unable to adjust screen brightness. The option doesn't work with the FN key option nor does it appear it windows setting anywhere. I've googled many options and all it says is to update the driver which I have done repeatledly. The only thing that doesn't work on the laptop now is brightness control. It seems to swtich just fine from using the onboard cpu graphics to the dedicated gpu.

Laptop ASUS 2021 ROG Strix G17 G1713QR

I performed an overnight system restore on my Lenovo Ideapad laptop. When I logged in, there was an "X" on my sound system, which translated in to missing driver. I attempted to update through Device Manager, but it came back as driver missing. How do I fix this problem?

The System Information report for my external backup hard drive above shows the following;

What does this mean and how do I fix it?

I would like to record audio from my turntable (Line level) to my Dell 5567 Laptop. The only Recording device that windows detects (listed in the "Recording" tab of the "Sound" dialogue box) is "Microphone" Obviously I don't want to use Microphone as the Recording device.
I would like to use the 3.5mm Jack Speaker/Headphone socket as the Recording input device, but although it is listed as a Playback device, it is not listed as a Recording device.

Is there an easy fix to get rid of an HDD 100% issue. Tried resetting RAM limits.
