Sound Issues

I would like to record audio from my turntable (Line level) to my Dell 5567 Laptop. The only Recording device that windows detects (listed in the "Recording" tab of the "Sound" dialogue box) is "Microphone" Obviously I don't want to use Microphone as the Recording device.
I would like to use the 3.5mm Jack Speaker/Headphone socket as the Recording input device, but although it is listed as a Playback device, it is not listed as a Recording device.

La scheda audio interna al PC, segnalata come dispositivo, è veramente scarsa come qualità e come potenza.
Per questo chiedo se non esiste una SCHEDA AUDIO ESTERNA AL PC che integri o sostituisca la funzione della scheda interna.
Il problema è anche un altro. Navigando nella rete, si trovano decine e decine di modelli di schede audio esterne, da pochi euro a migliaia di euro; TUTTE, DICO TUTTE, comprendono nel dispositivo INGRESSI PER MICROFONI, INGRESSI PER STRUMENTI MUSICALI e altre componenti che a me non servono proprio per nulla. Non sono un cantante, non sono un musicista, non suono strumento e non registro. Possibile che non esista sul mercato una scheda audio esterna al pc che faccia SOLO IL LAVORO DI UNA SCHEDA AUDIO DI QUALITA' SE POSSIBILE AUDIOFILA.??????

Unable to get any audio from my Lenovo IdeaPad 3

I use a VM for work and I want the sound on the VM to always be muted/zero.

If I turn the sound down and reboot the VM, the sound goes back to 100%, so there must be something running which resets volume.

If I had a PowerShell script or simiar to mute the sound, I could put it on the desktop and run it easily instead of messing about with the GUI.

Can it be done?
